This 1970s-era Colonial-style home sits on
five rural acres in River Hills, Wisconsin. The original 25 x 35 foot
family room didn’t take advantage of its beautiful outdoor
view, so one of our remodeling goals was to change that. We replaced
the dark brown paneling with floor-to-ceiling windows on three walls,
created a cathedral ceiling, and replaced all the dark Ranch style
molding with white-painted Colonial molding, all of which help to
lighten and brighten the whole room.
In conjunction with an equally dramatic family room remodel (see the first photo in our "Kitchen"
portfolio section,) this project earned a 2001 Silver
Milwaukee NARI Wisconsin Remodeler of the Year award in the
"Residential Interiors" category. In 2002 it was also awarded an MBA
Sales and Marketing Council’s Standard of Excellence Award in
the "Best Remodeling Project—Mid Range" category.
